Our CPAP Machines and Equipment

CPAP therapy uses a small bedside machine to deliver a steady flow of air that keeps the airway open during sleep, helping prevent breathing interruptions caused by sleep apnea. In addition to the CPAP machine itself, therapy typically includes a mask (nasal, nasal pillow, or full-face), headgear, tubing, filters, and a humidifier to improve comfort and reduce dryness. At Athens Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine, our DME store offers a complete range of CPAP equipment and supplies, along with expert guidance to help patients find the right setup for effective, comfortable, and consistent use.

PAP Therapy

There are several types of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy, each designed to address different breathing needs during sleep. CPAP delivers a single, continuous pressure to keep the airway open, while APAP automatically adjusts pressure throughout the night based on your breathing patterns. AutoBiPAP provides different pressures for inhalation and exhalation to improve comfort for patients who require higher or variable pressures, and ASV therapy is an advanced option used for certain complex or central sleep apnea conditions. The most appropriate therapy is determined by your physician based on your sleep study results, symptoms, and overall medical history.

CPAP Mask Interfaces

CPAP masks come in several styles to match different comfort needs and breathing patterns. Nasal masks cover the nose and are a popular option for patients who move during sleep but primarily breathe through their nose. Full-face masks cover both the nose and mouth and are ideal for mouth breathers or patients with frequent nasal congestion. Nasal pillow masks use small, soft cushions that rest at the nostrils, offering a lightweight, low-profile option for patients who prefer minimal contact. Hybrid masks combine features of nasal pillows with a mouth seal, providing effective therapy with less facial coverage than a traditional full-face mask.

CPAP Equipment

In addition to the CPAP machine and mask, several supporting components are essential for effective and comfortable therapy. Tubing connects the machine to the mask and delivers pressurized air throughout the night, while the water chamber (humidifier) adds moisture to the airflow to help reduce dryness and irritation. Filters are used to keep dust, allergens, and debris out of the machine and should be replaced regularly to maintain performance and air quality. Replacement mask components, such as cushions, pillows, headgear, and frames, help ensure a proper seal and comfort over time, as normal wear can affect fit and effectiveness.
