Hugh Jenkins, M.D.

Dr. Jenkins joined Athens Pulmonary in 1987 after completing a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of South Carolina. He completed his Medical school at University of Louisville, Kentucky and then his residency at Emory University. He has been a leader in Critical-Care at Athens Regional Medical Center and is the Director of the ICU. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Sleep medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Landmark Hospital in Athens. His interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis and critical-care medicine.  He currently sees his patients in Athens and Lavonia.

Wayne F. Middendorf M.D. FACCP

Dr. Middendorf received his medical degree from Indiana University in 1974 and then did his Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1974 to 1980. He then moved to Athens, Georgia establishing the Athens Pulmonary and Allergy practice. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and is a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians. He is on the active medical staff of Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he also serves as medical director of the critical care units and Landmark hospital where he also serves as the chief medical officer. His interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease and critical care medicine.

Jane Parks, M.D.

Dr. Parks joined Athens Pulmonary in 1998 after completing a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her Medical school at University of Alabama at Birmingham and then her residency at University of Washington. She has been a leader with medical staff affairs at Athens Regional Medical Center. She has been board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Sleep medicine. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and American College of Chest Physicians. She has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Landmark. Her interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, asthma and pulmonary rehabilitation.  She currently sees her patients in Athens and Lavonia.

Milos Tucakovic, M.D.

Dr. Tucakovic joined Athens Pulmonary in 2007 from Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where he was on staff. He completed Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2002. He completed his Medical school at University of Belgrade Medical School and then did his residency at Mclaren Regional Medical Center. He has been a leader in bronchoscopy in Athens since joining our practice. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and Sleep medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Landmark Hospital in Athens. His interests include Interventional bronchoscopy, lung cancer, sleep.

Shraddha Tongia, M.D., FCCP

Dr. Shraddha Tongia completed her fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical care and Residency in Internal Medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center ( Albert Einstein College Of Medicine). She completed her medical school at SMS Medical College, India. After finishing her fellowship she worked briefly in Monroe, GA before joining Athens Pulmonary in 2008. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary medicine, Critical care and Sleep medicine. She is a fellow of ACCP and is member of ATS and SCCM. She introduced dysphagia evaluation using FEESST to this practice as well at Athens Regional Medical center. She has active privileges at ARMC, St Mary's Hospital and Landmark Hospital. Her interests include Pulmonary diseases, Sleep medicine and bronchoscopy.

Nehal Bhatt, M.D.

Dr. Bhatt joined Athens Pulmonary in 2008 after completing a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his Medical school at Ross University School of Medicine and then his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Illinois, Advocate Christ Hospital. He has been a leader in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in Athens. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary¬ís Hospital, and Landmark Hospital in Athens. He treats all general Pulmonary disorders, including Sleep, with special interest in Pulmonary Hypertension, Bronchoscopy, and critical-care medicine.  He currently sees his patients in Athens and Lavonia.

Karan Julka, M.D.

Dr. Julka joined our practice in 2009 after completing his Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). He completed his Medical school at Saba University School of medicine and then his residency at Medical Center of Central Georgia with Mercer University. He has been a leader in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) in Athens. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Landmark Hospital in Athens. Stephen Lucas, M.D.

Dr. Lucas is trained and Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and in Allergy/Clinical Immunology. He joined Athens Pulmonary in 1983. In addition to his clinical activities at Athens Pulmonary, he has been involved in teaching at the Medical College of Georgia/University of Georgia Medical Partnership since it opened in 2010. He is very interested in the development of an inpatient teaching program at the Athens hospitals that will help train medical students and postgraduate physicians (interns and residents in the old terminology). He remains, though, committed to what he has always been his main interest--the practice of medicine, one patient at a time.

Jakemia Coleman, M.D.

Dr. Coleman joined Athens Pulmonary in 2012 after briefly working for a large HMO. She is originally from New York and completed all of her training in New York and New Jersey. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine. She is a member of ATS, ACCP, and SCCM. Dr. Coleman enjoys running and has a special interest in exercise physiology.

T.J. Martin, M.D.

Dr. Martin is the newest member of the Athens Pulmonary physician staff. He joined in 2013 after completing a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at New York University. Originally from Augusta, GA, he also completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia after which he moved to North Carolina for Internal Medicine Residency training at Wake Forest University. He followed this with a one year Chief Resident Junior Faculty position. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine and is board eligible in Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP). He has active privileges at Athens Regional Medical Center, Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Landmark Hospital in Athens. He treats all general Pulmonary disorders, with special interest in bronchoscopy, critical care medicine, and critical care ultrasound.
